It's the super Cooper!

The latest John Cooper Works tuning kit for the MINI-Cooper S will be introduced at the Paris Show, raising the power output to 157 kW (from 149 kW), trimming the 0-100 km/h time to 6.6 seconds, and boosting the top speed to 230 km/h

It will be available for the Cooper S and the Cooper S Convertible, and in each case the price will remain the same as the current kit, which is available through dealers in SA. However, there are no details yet on when the changes will filter through to this country.

The extra power has been released thanks to the use of a revised air filter system, new fuel injectors and some recalibration of the ECU. And the modifications take advantage of the new gear ratios in the standard six-speed Getrag transmission.

What's more owners of existing John Cooper Works Kit cars can have them upgraded to the new specification.

The Paris Show will also see the launch of various new John Cooper Works accessories. They include a sports suspension kit and a 18 inch star-spoke R95 alloys.

Early next year, an uprated brake system, a cross-brace in the engine compartment to reduce body vibration, and new carbon fibre components including a tailgate handle and door mirror covers will be added.
