Hyundai boosts Matrix

The most obvious changes are to the Matrix's front end where it features a new nose and headlight design. Roof rails and alloy wheels ad a sporty touch to the vehicle.

A host of comfort features such as power steering, electric windows, leather upholstery, central locking, climate-controlled air-conditioning and a radio/CD combination audio system are standard on the Matrix.

It also offers great versatility foldable rear seats (60:40 split design), which effectively doubles the cargo space.

Other features include a cover for the cargo area, fold-up seatback trays, storage compartments under seats, cup holders for all occupants and 12 V power sockets between the front seats and in the cargo area.

There is an array of active and passive safety features too with ABS coupled with EBD providing stopping power.

The Matrix comes with Hyundai's proven 1.6-litre alpha II engine. This 4-cylinder unit generates maximum power of 76 kW at 5 800 r/min and 141 Nm of torque at 4 500 r/min.

The Matrix retails at a suggested price of R154 900.
