Fiat's cute little 500 has grown a vicious sting - an "esseesse" (or SS) kit for the fiery 500 Abarth is being shown at the Paris Motor Show.
Said to evoke the great history of the Scorpion, the esseesse kit is issued in a wooden case.
Kit details include the use of Fiat's 1.4-litre 16-valve T-Jet turbocharged engine mated with a five-speed manual transmission.
Performance figures for this little one are enticing: peak power of 147 kW at 5 750 r/min, torque of 230 Nm at 3 000 r/min, top speed of 211 km/h and acceleration from 0 - 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, in "sport mode".
But while Fiat quotes a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.5 l/100 km, the CO2 emissions figure for Abarth "esseesse" is 155 g/km.
Furthermore, the "esseesse" kit adds high-performance brake pads, lowered springs, 17-inch alloy wheels with either white or titanium finishes shod with performance Pirellis, a specific air filter and tyre pressure monitors.
"esseesse" badging is visible on the bonnet and tailgate and a special key cover.
Fiat SA has said the 500 Abarth and its "esseesse" kit are being considered for South Africa.
