Making its public debut at the British International Motor Show in London, Aygo Crazy is a one-off model that has been designed to provide maximum driving pleasure. And you'll have to do that without any electronic aids, power steering or ABS…
Its body is custom made, it rides on beefy 17-inch alloys and it sports a carbon fibre rear wing taken directly from race cars competing in the American Champ Car Series.
But most astounding is the firepower stuffed beneath its bonnet.
Complements of the first-generation Celica and the MR2 Roadster, and a Toyota Motorsport turbo conversion kit, the rear-mounted 1.8 VVT-i unit churns out 147 kW and 240 Nm of torque. The Roadster's five-speed manual gearbox drives the rear wheels.
A bespoke cooling system, with a huge front-mounted aluminium radiator, has been designed to cope with the increased engine performance.
Aygo Crazy also rides on the MR2's McPherson struts at the front and rear, while adjustable dampers sharpen the youngster's dynamic performance.
The cabin has received some attention too, and features sport seats with four-point safety harnesses and full roll cage.
A one-off, Aygo Crazy won’t be going into production but will be touring the European car show circuit with F1's Timo Glock at the wheel. It seems a little bit of madness never hurt anyone.
