Morgan, the carmaker with designs seemingly from another era, revealed a new car at the weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The Malvern-based company revealed a first for the marque - a “four-seater coupe aimed at young families” called the Eva GT.
But while the styling appears to date from another era, Eva GT is based on the bonded aluminium chassis of the Aero Supersports and the car’s power is sourced from a twin-turbocharged BMW 3.0-litre straight six. A six-speed automatic or manual transmission is available.
Weighing just 1 450 kg, Eva GT is said to cover the 0 – 100 km/h sprint time in 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 274 km/h.
Electronic dampers ensure impeccable driving characteristics providing a choice of comfortable or sportier modes.
Belying its anachronistic styling cues, the Eva GT comes with ABS, electronic stability control, satellite navigation and multi-stage airbags as standard.
Morgan aficionados were allowed to place their deposits to secure their cars on Sunday, while production is set to kick off in 2012.
