Mazda’s Geneva auto show centerpiece will be a new crossover SUV concept called Minagi that shows off the automaker's latest design theme and is packed with fresh technologies. The Minagi concept is the first to show off Mazda’s new Kodo design theme that will be rolled out in the Japanese manufacturer’s next generation of products.The compact SUV concept will also be used as a platform for Mazda’s new SkyActiv technologies.SkyActiv engines use direct-injection petrol engines and a new clean diesel while new SkyActiv auto and manual transmissions will complete the pairing. No specifications relating to the possible powertrains have been provided. The SkyActiv designation extends to the concept’s body and chassis, which is meant to merge weight reduction with the latest in safety technology. The Minagi SUV concept - with its array of SkyActiv goodies - and Mazda’s Shinari concept car will headline Mazda’s Geneva auto show display. Mazda will hold its media conference on March 1, 2011, at which more details on the Minagi are expected to be announced.
