Audi has boosted its TT range with potent turbodiesel power, making it available with a 2-litre TDI engine.
Both roadster and coupe models will get the TDI power train. The cars will be unveiled at March's Geneva Motor Show, however, Audi South Africa is still to make a decision if the TT TDI will go on sale here.
The 2-litre TDI engine develops 125 kW @ 4 200 r/min and 350 Nm of torque is available between 1 750 and 2 500 r/min.
In coupe guise the TT TDI goes from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, while it takes the roadster derivative 7.7 seconds.
Top speed for the coupe is 226 km/h and the roadster runs out of breath at 223km/h.
The TT TDI has decent "green" credentials too as average fuel consumption is 5.5 litres per 100 km and has a C02 emissions figure of 145 grams/km.
Besides the engine the TDI models are similar to the rest of the TT line-up. It also features Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system.
