Opel has announced that it will reveal an electric four-seater hatchback at March's Geneva show. The car, called Ampera, is an extended-range electric car that uses a lithium-ion battery to power it over distances up to 60 km. On longer journeys, the electricity is generated by a small internal combustion engine. General Motors has said it will reveal more Ampera details on March 3 at its Geneva show stand. The manufacturer has not officially announced the connection, but from where we're sitting the resemblance to the Chevrolet Volt is more than a little uncanny. Expect the two to be very closely related.
