The new Aston Martin V12 Zagato will be appearing at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011. Two V12 Zagatos will be displayed alongside other Aston Martins which will include the One-77 supercar, Virage and Vantage S.
Hand assembled at the Gaydon plant in England, the V12 Zagato is based on the V12 Vantage and features a handcrafted aluminium and carbon fibre body.
The Zagato boasts Aston Martin’s bonded aluminium platform and the company’s six-litre V12 engine producing 380kW and 570Nm of torque.
THE 'ZIG' AND THE 'ZAG'
The V12 Zagato sells at the equivalent of R3.5-million and will go into limited production in 2012 and Aston Martin released the concept illustrations of the road car variant.
Launched in May 2011 at the Villa D’Este Concours on Lake Como, Italy, the V12 Zagato won a concept and prototypes design award. The V12 Zagato made its racing debut at the VLN race at the Nürburgring and following other appearances, the V12 Zagato was entered into the Nürburgring 24-Hour.
The first of the two V12 Zagatos, the 'Zig' is the full endurance race car concept. The car features a full aerodynamic package including front splitter, dive planes, large rear diffuser and spoiler.
The ‘Zag’ was originally shown at the Villa D’Este before being converted into the racing car. The Zag has been returned to its show specification. Although showing a racing car interior, it has the road car exterior.
