Following the MINI Coupé Concept, BMW is showing a Roadster version at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
When it goes into production in 2010 it will rival popular two-seaters such as the Audi TT and Mazda MX-5.
With typical MINI styling cues the Roadster also has a much sportier stance with a low roofline, high waist and oversized wheelarches. Like the Mini Convertible the Roadster Concept gets a fabric top which folds neatly behind the occupants’ heads.
Regardless of whether the roof is raised or lowered, there are 250 litres of luggage space.
Furthermore there is a clever lockable compartment linking the cabin to the boot which means one can reach into the rear storage area from inside the car.
Under the bonnet lies the same 1.6-litre turbocharged engine as in the Cooper S.
A clever dash-mounted display called NatureGuard reveals how efficiently the car is being driven.
There are also gearshift and gravity indicators, the latter showing cornering force.
