Kia's brand-new Venga subcompact is another styling wonder to emerge from the manufacturer's busy European design studio.

Based on the number three concept first shown at Geneva in March, the Venga is just over 4 m long on a 2.6 m wheelbase and has a height of 1.6 m for maximum cabin space.

As with its main competitors, packaging is key and interior space is said to compete with that of much larger C-segment vehicles.

Venga has a rear bench that splits 60/40 and tumbles flat into the floor and a two-tiered boot space. For extra airiness, a tilt-and-slide panoramic sunroof is also offered.

All engines will be offered with Kia's Stop-and-Go technology and in Europe buyers will have a choice of two 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol and turbodiesel engines.

Venga debuts on September 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
