Volkswagen will launch the next generation Jetta in South Africa in the first quarter of 2006. This much-anticipated VW sedan is to get the same turbo-charged FSI engine as the popular new Golf GTI.
This engine develops 147 kW at 5 700 r/min and torque is 280 Nm which is available in a wide band between 1 800 r/min and 5 000 r/min.
However, the Jetta will feature a more comfort-oriented suspension.
It seems as if VW won't badge the Jetta as a GTI, and would rather opt to name this Jetta model the 2.0 T FSI.
But the turbo-charged Jetta will share some visual similarities with the Golf. According to Auto Express it will get the same black honeycomb grille with red detailing. Furthermore it will also be available with sporty 17-inch alloy wheels.
The rest of the Jetta range will reflect the Golf's trim and engine line-up.
Although the Jetta is already available in the US it will have its European debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
