Subaru is to show a near production version of its new XV at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show.
After the XV debuted in April at the 2011 Shanghai auto show (in a rather lurid "Electro Yellowgreen" hue), Subaru’s been busy refining its latest take on the XV crossover nameplate.
The styling updates will be on show at Frankfurt and should showcase Subaru’s new design language.
PROTREN DESIGN
Although the Frankfurt bound XV is expected to remain true to its Shanghai concept roots (length remains 4.45m, width 1.8m and height 1.57m), it remains to be seen whether the Shanghai XV concept’s hawk-eye headlights will be carried over.
Subaru says the XV concept encapsulates the company’s new Protren design concept. Allegedly this is a phrase coined from a combination of "professional tool" and "trendy design" – don’t worry, we can’t fathom it either.
The XV’s technological halo feature is Subaru’s "EyeSight" system – a collection of cameras relaying images captured whilst XV is on the move.
Power comes from the now familiar horizontally-opposed, two-litre four and drive is sent to all four wheels – as is the case with most Subaru products.
