Ford's styling next crossover

2007-07-20 09:01
A preview of the very handsome Ford Kuga is being prepared for the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is based on the stunning iosis concept shown at last year's Paris show.

Tasked with delivering this machine to the masses, Ford's European design team applied it "kinetic design" form to introduce a compact new 4X4 crossover vehicle to the Ford product range.

"We recognised that image-conscious customers for this kind of vehicle want a very individual car in which impressive on-road capability blends seamlessly with substantial off-road ability," said Martin Smith, executive design director for Ford of Europe.

First design sketches of the crossover, which goes into production at the Blue Oval's Saarlouis plant early next year, will also be displayed at the Frankfurt show.

Technical details are as yet unknown, but the new model will be launched across Europe in the second quarter of 2008.

Ford SA has stated that it "does not have any plans at present to introduce this vehicle locally".
