So far BMW’s forthcoming X1 has been the target of spy photographers but now BMW has released a batch of teaser photos of the newcomer.
Though the spy photos and the 2008 X1 concept gave us a pretty good indication of what to expect of the X1’s exterior, BMW’s images reveal the interior.
At launch BMW there will be two new entry-level derivatives, namely the xDrive18i and the xDrive18d. An xDrive20d with 130kW and an even more potent 150kW xDrive23d will also be available. The latter has a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.4 seconds. The third vehicle is an xDrive28i powered by a petrol engine with a 230km/h maximum speed.
BMW's xDrive may not be the only drive system available; a rumour suggests that rear-wheel-drive models are also on the cards.
The X1 will officially debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It will rival small SUVs such as the VW Tiguan and Toyota RAV4..
