Chinese manufacturer GWM has announced the introduction of common-rail diesel power to its newly updated local range of bakkies and SUVs.
Powered by GWM's own in-house designed and manufacturer 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, the single-, double-cab bakkies, as well as the Multi Wagon SUV should see added market appeal thanks to the rugged diesel engines.
The powerplant produces 70kW at 3600r/min and 225Nm of torque from a low 2200r/min, ideally suited to the utilitarian character of the local GWM range.
All models drive through a five-speed manual gearbox, and feature the same 64-litre fuel-tank capacity found on the petrol version.
