Kia will unveil an all-new mid-sized SUV at next year's Detroit Motor Show.
Dubbed Borrego, the SUV is larger than the current Sorento, and named after a bighorn sheep native to California in the US.
Its styling is derived from the Mesa concept shown at the 2005 Detroit Motor Show.
The production version uses a body-on-frame construction and incorporates the latest in NVH-reduction technologies, the company said.
Kia also assures the seven-seater will comfortably seat two adults in the rear-most seats.
Aimed primarily at the US market, the Borrego will be offered with a V6 or, in selected markets, the manufacturer's first V8 powerplant.
The large SUV will be manufactured in Korea from early 2008 and will go on sale in international markets by mid-2008.
