Chevrolet has revealed that the new Aveo hatchback will be among four new cars shown at the upcoming Paris auto show. The production version of the five-door hatchback will make its global appearance in October, following the showing of the Aveo RS show car at the Detroit and Geneva shows earlier in 2010,The new Aveo shows off a more assertive nose, body panels with a dynamically rising shoulder line and short rear overhangs. Recessed door releases, first shown by Chev on the new Spark, also make an appearance in the Aveo's C-pillar. The new car is longer and wider than the model it replaces, resulting in a boot said to be best in class. A motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster has been carried across from the Spark, too. Other interior features include blue backlighting for the centre console and a wraparound fascia that flows into the driver and front passenger doors. A range of four-cylinder petrol and turbodiesel engines using the latest technology will be available. These include petrol 1.2 and 1.4 units, along with a 1.3-litre diesel in two states of tune and equipped with start/stop technology. The availability of five or six-speed manual transmissions, or an optional six-speed automatic, will depend on the engine selected. For added assurance, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes will be standard.
