New Bentley GTCs only for US
Bentley Motors, which recently reported is experiencing a scorcher of a year, has shown new limited- edition models at Pebble Beach.
The special Continental GTC and GTC Speed 80-11 are designed exclusively for the North American market. The designation 80-11 speaks to these cars’ exclusivity – only 80 example of each drophead will be built in 2011.
Though based on the standard GTC and GTC Speed models, 80-11 versions have new 20-inch alloy wheels (14-spoke diamond alloys for the GTC and a dark tint for the sportier GTC Speed to highlight its red brake calipers) and Union Jack badges on the front fenders.
A new colour called Midnight has been commission for the special convertibles, too.
The two derivatives show off unique interiors, with the Speed cabin taking a sportier turn with darker finishes and red contrasts.
The GTC and GTC Speed are powered by a twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine with 411 kW and 447 kW on tap, respectively. Until recently, the GTC Speed capable of hitting speeds up to 321 km/h was the fastest four-seater production convertible, but has been surpassed by its stablemate, the Supersports convertible
Those who relish the need for speed should savour these models, and other Bentleys like them, for now. The manufacturer has stated that it will introduce a new powertrain that will reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 40%.
