Mitsubishi Motors has officially launched the Mirage in South Africa. Perfect for first-time buyers, the stylish new entry-level five-door, 1.2-litre powered hatchback features unbeatable fuel economy and a fun, vibrant design.

The Mirage is available from just R1899 per month – with 12 months comprehensive vehicle insurance included and Mitsubishi’s comprehensive three-year or 100 000 km warranty and a two-year or 30 000km maintenance plan.

General manager of Mitsubishi Motors SA, Wynand Pretorius, said: “This launch offering makes overall car ownership much more affordable and accessible for younger buyers. The remarkable fuel economy and compact design makes the Mirage the perfect city car for those on the move.”

LOADS OF FEATURES

Acclaimed as one of the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid petrol vehicles on the market, the Mirage features an impressive average fuel economy of just 4.9-litres/100km. The vehicle also comes with creature comforts such as keyless entry and a full complement of safety features including ABS, EBD, dual airbags and Mitsubishi’s RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) impact-absorbing chassis structure.

Pretorius said: “With the Mirage, we are entering the A-segment for the very first time in South Africa and we’re confident we’re bring the right car to market at the right time. Affordable mobility is essential for first-time buyers and the Mirage is an extremely competitive offering that ticks all the boxes and then some.”

WIN A MIRAGE

Coinciding with the launch of the Mirage, Mitsubishi is running an exciting social media competition where it’s giving away two  Mirages with insurance for a year.

Using the hashtag #ShotgunMirage, fans can compete for the chance to be one of five competitors who will ride shotgun with their favourite local celebs in the Mirage Fuel Challenge on October 2 2014. The fan on the team that does the completes the most kilometres on a single tank of fuel will drive home in a new Mirage.

Celebrities participating in the challenge include radio and TV personalities Tumi Voster, Roxy Burger and Sade Giliberti, as well as Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere and actor/comedian Siv Ngesi. Fans can enter by demonstrating what makes them the perfect road-trip co-pilot via Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #ShotgunMirage.

Fans at home will also get the chance to win a Mitsubishi Mirage by voting for the celeb and co-pilot they think will win the challenge. The winning entry will be drawn from a pool of votes cast for the winning team. Voting opens on 15 September after the first leg of the competition.
