Mercedes has announced plans for an urban delivery van called the Citan as a little brother to the Vario, Sprinter and Vito to broaden its range in the lower weight classes.
The Citan will be offered as a panel van, a crew bus, a mixed-use vehicle and in a variety of lengths and weights, the automaker said. The market launch is scheduled for later in 2012.

The vehicle will be unveiled at the September, 2012 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in the northern German city of Hanover.
The early units will be powered by turbodiesel and petrol engines; a battery version will come later.
