LONDON, England - McLaren has unveiled the first model in its Sports Series family, the 570S Coupe, ahead of its public debut at the 2015 New York auto show.
The new 570S Coupe derives its name from its power output (570PS/419kW) and shares its DNA with the McLaren Super Series and Ultimate Series that sit above it hierarchy.
It's powered by a 3.8-litre V8 twin turbo capable of 419kW/600Nm mated to a seven-speed SSG transmission, transferring power to the rear wheels.
0-100KM/H IN 3.2 SECS
It’s fitted with carbon ceramic brakes, Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres (225/35/R19 front and 285/35/R20 rear) and buyers have access to a range of forged alloy rims.
Its V8 engine enables it to rocket to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 328 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at a claimed 9 litres/100km with emissions of 258g/km.
The Coupe is the first bodystyle to be shown in the Sports Series. It measures 4.5m long, 2m wide and 1.2m tall.

According to McLaren: “The design team has created a shape of beauty highlighted by details such as the rear flying buttresses that increase downforce as well as adding grace, and complex door tendons that direct additional air to cool the mid-mounted V8 engine.”
Its carbon-fibred MonoCell II chassis is new with, McLaren says, “more of a focus on day-to-day usability, offering improved ingress/egress from the cabin”.
The new coupe weighs 1313kg almost, McLaren claims, 150kg lighter than its closest rival.
At the front it has aerodynamic blades below the front bumper, large LEDs and a sculpted bonnet designed to channel airflow over the front wheelarches. At the rear it has blade-shaped LEDs, an aluminium mesh, concave window, twin exhausts and new diffuser.
The Sports Series has its own suspension system offering normal, sport and track modes. The sport and track settings allow the 570S to become more track-focused.
‘MOST USABLE’ McLAREN YET
Inside it has leather sports seats (racing seats are optional) and leather trim on the dashboard and steering wheel. The 570S has 150 litres of storage in its front luggage bay.
It’s equipped with a new TFT digital instrument cluster that changes configuration depending on driving mode, a 17.7cm IRIS touchscreen with integrated aircon controls, Bluetooth and McLaren Audio four-speaker system.
