Mazda is set to debut its Takeri mid-sized sedan early in 2012 featuring the Japanese automaker’s new i-ELOOP regenerative braking technology.
The new model will be joined by the new CX-5 compact SUV, and the MX-5 Special Edition.
The Takeri is the latest concept to adopt Mazda’s "KODO – Soul of Motion" design language and gives us a glimpse of the Japanese automaker’s design for the future.
Under its captivating exterior, the Takeri features Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-D diesel engine with a fuel-saving "i-stop" system and six-speed automatic transmission.
NEW TECHNOLOGY
The Takeri aims for the ultimate in energy efficiency without compromising on Mazda’s fun-to-drive performance and handling. It is the first Mazda car to be equipped with i-ELOOP (Intelligent Energy Loop) braking system, which converts kinetic energy to electricity during deceleration and stores it in an electric double-layer capacitor.
The power is then used to operate the vehicle’s electric components, thereby reducing the load on the engine and increasing fuel economy.
The all-new Mazda CX-5 is the brand’s first production model incorporating SKYACTIV technology which includes its engine, transmissions, body and chassis.
The CX-5 compact crossover SUV delivers outstanding performance and responsive, predictable handling as well as a high-quality ride and exceptional safety.
Mazda will debut all its new models at the 82nd Geneva International Motor Show from March 6 – 18 2012.
