SangYong's new Korando comes with a contemporary look courtesy of Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design and UK customers can look forwards to a new "limitless" warranty.
Though not so in South Africa - which has to do with a mere three years or 100 000km.
The new model will be powered by a new two-litre diesel engine capable of 130kW/4000rpm and 360Nm from 2000-3000rpm. The engine will be mated to either a six-speed manual or auto transmission.
NEW DESIGN
Available in either two or all-wheel drive, the Korando is an off-road capable 4x4 with the practicality of an Urban SUV. The new model is currently available in one trim level in south Africa - e-XDi 200. There are three in other markets. Fuel consumption is rated at a (claimed) 6.4 litres/100km.
The new Korando, Rexton and Rodius MPV's sold in the UK will have the Korean automaker's new five-year "limitless" distance warranty. According to SsangYong this warranty covers mechanical components on the vehicle, among them wheel bearings, suspension joints and bushes, steering joints, shock absorbers and even the audio system.
'LIMITLESS' WARRANTY
Wearing components such as clutch discs and brakes are covered for one year (20 000km), the battery and paintwork for three years.
Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong UK, said: "This warranty is designed to be totally transparent and give our customers complete peace of mind. With SsangYong, ‘limitless’ means just that: not the 100 000 maximum mileage condition that some brands impose in their small print.”
SsangYong UK states that its warranty applies to the vehicle and not to the buyer so, provided the service record is maintained, it can be transferred no matter how many times the vehicle is sold within that five years.
Unfortunately South African buyers will have to the contend with the brand's current three-year or 100 000km warranty.
