BMW's M division has created two limited editions of its monster M3 and M5 models. The German automaker's engineers and designers have come up with new Frozen paint jobs, tweaked performance and a collective R420 000 in extras.
The new M3 M Performance Edition is powered by a 313kW V8 engine mated to a seven-speed M DCT transmission and variable M differential. The new model comes with a Competition Package as standard, which lowers suspension by 10mm, adds a Electronic Damper Control with sport mode and a revised DSC+ system.

The M3 M Performance Edition sports 19" 'M' Y-spoked black alloys, chromed exhaust, side gills and kidney surround. Other style updates includes a black air intakes, carbon-fibre front splitters.
Other extras include adaptive headlights, a digital radio mated to a Harman/Kardon 13-speaker system. The interior is boosted by a sliding front armrest, front seat heating and parking assist. Other enhancements include designer floor mats, leather steering wheel, front headrests with M stitching and door sills with a BMW M Performance Edition logo.
To complete the package a "One of 30" designation is added.
All M3 M Performance Editions have black leather interiors and contrasting red, white or blue stitching. The M Performance Editions will adds three new Frozen colours to match the new interior colour schemes.
The new BMW M5 M Performance Edition has a 417Kw TwinPower Turbo V8 engine.
REVERSING CAMERA
The Performance Edition M5 includes 20" M souble-spoke black alloy wheels, chromed exhaust, side gills and kidney surrounds. Other extras in the limited edition includes M Sport multi-function seats, powered boot lid, sun protection glass, split-folding rear seats, comfort access and soft close doors.
A reversing assist camera, high-beam assist, and a multimedia system sporting 12 speakers, USB, MP3 and mobile connectivity.
The M5 M Performance Editions interiors have black Merino leather trim.
Sadly though, South African M-car enthusiasts will have to emigrate to the UK as the new models are being built solely for the UK market with just thirty models planned.
