LONDON, England - Lexus certainly has taken its time to introduce forced-induction engines for its sedans, specifically the IS.
In June 2015, Lexus has good news for its fans as a new two-litre turbo will join the IS rang - the IS200t. The turbo unit is used in the NX 200t crossover, on sale in South Africa, and the future new RX 200t SUV.
The engine is tuned to deliver 180kW/350Nm mated to an eight-speed auto gearbox, originally developed for the RC F coupe, driving power to the rear wheels.
It can sprint to 100km/h in seven seconds and on to a claimed top speed of 230km/h.

According to Lexus: "The rigidity of the engine’s main structural components is optimised to suppress vibration, and a balance shaft with resin gears is fitted to achieve even greater smoothness.
"A new calcium-free lubricating oil helps prevent engine knock at low revs while the piston cooling oil jet system further improves anti-knock performance."Lexus SA will bring the new IS200t to local buyers, with more details to be announced closer to the launch date.
