JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Lexus has always been known as a luxury brand with lots of trimmings as standard specification. Now there's a Special Edition RX350 with even more kit than usual.
According to Lexus, the RX pioneered the luxury SUV phenomenon when it was launched in 1997 and has become one of the world’s most successful crossovers.

Espousing the "everything included" philosophy, says Lexus, a generous slug of standard equipment is a given if you buy one of its products - but this one pulls out all the stops.
Lexus SA’s general manager Justin Ryan said: “The RX350 Limited Edition offers exactly the blend of virtues and specification for which most buyers of this car will be looking.
"In addition the recent styling revisions, most notably the more assertive frontal treatment and dynamic new 19" alloy wheel rims, make a bold statement and give the RX a sportier persona.
“In the cabin small but telling tweaks have been made to trim and the shape and functionality of some of the controls, particularly the remote touch controller which operates more like a computer mouse. The Lexus attention to detail even extends to increasing the opening angle of the centre consolelid to make it easier to reach items inside.”
Extra equipment includes:
• Dual-swivel adaptive front lights with high-intensity discharge xenon headlights.
• Electronically adjustable steering column, with position memory.
• Diode-lit door scuff plates.
• External mirrors with a memory function.
• Side monitor: A miniature camera in the passenger door mirror transmits video images to the vehicle’s central display. The camera is activated by operating a button on the steering-wheel.
• Bamboo cabin trim: Slivers of blonde bambooadorn the steering wheel (combination wood and leather), door linings, instrument panel and cupholder garnish
• Heatable and ventilated front seats with memory settings.
• Head-up display
• 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.
