Lexus RC stunner headed for SA

Lexus has unveiled its 4 Series- fighter at the Tokyo Motor Show on Wednesday, but now the car is making its way to South Africa.

Earlier in November Wheels24 reported on the Lexus RC Coupe ahead of its official debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. Read more about it here.

The production-ready model was unveiled earlier on Wednesday (Nov20) in Toyko and will reach South Africa later in 2014.

Lexus said the car is based on the GS platform but the RC is not just simply a two-door derivative of a saloon. It’s 30mm wider, 35mm lower and 70mm shorter in the wheelbase than the IS sedan, giving it a classic coupe stance.

When it goes on sale in Europ, it will be available in the form of the RC 350 with a 234kW 3.5-litre V6 engine mated to an eight-speed sequential transmission. The RC 300h hybrid will be powered by a 131kW 2.5-litre petrol unit (total system output is 220kW) mated to an ECVT gearbox.

Lexus SA said models and specifications will be confirmed closer to the launch.
