Lambo rips roof off Aventador

Lamborghini has released details of its most potent drop-top supercar yet – the Aventador LP700-4 Roadster.

Following the introduction of the Coupe – of which more than 1300 units have already been delivered – this Aventador roadster is recognised by its distinct profile extending along geometric lines from the removable roof to the bonnet.

FIRST FOR SUPER SPORTS SEGMENT

The two-piece roof is constructed entirely from carbon fibre and each section weighs less than 6kg, the sports car maker said. They can also be stored in the front luggage compartment.

And to compensate for the removable roof, the rear pillar has been redesigned to offer additional support while also housing an automatic protection system for passengers.

Occupants can decide how best to enjoy the drop-top experience. The powered rear windshield influences the air flow within the cabin, but also controls the noise levels from the V12 engine. Additionally, the wind deflector, which rests on the front windshield frame, reduces wind buffeting in the cabin. It can also be stored in the luggage compartment when not in use.

The body of the Aventador LP700-4 Roadster sports a two-tone finish, with the A-pillar, roof sections and rear window area painted in gloss black. The interior has a new look, too, with the use of a special leather called Sabbia Nefertem for the hand-crafted upholstery.

The LP700-4 Roadster also features a new forge light aluminium rim (in 20 and 21” diameters).

At the heart of this Roadster is the naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 powerplant generating 525kW mated to a seven-speed automated manual ISR gearbox.

The Roadster’s engine also does its part of the environment with a cylinder deactivation system that kicks in when the engine is only working at partial load, and a start-stop system considered to be “an absolute first in the super sports car segment,” Lamborghini said.
