BEIJING, China - Kia's K4 concept has made its world premiere at the 2014 Beijing International Auto Show.
Kia South Africa says the car will not reach our shores. Such a pity, it looks like an exciting model. Read on and tell us what you think!
The K4, Kia says, displays a simple, distinctive and dignified exterior design – a low nose and wedge profile. The car is equipped six air bags, electronic stability control and a rear-view camera.
The K4, Kia adds, will set a new standard for its class in China when it is launched later in 2014.
STRONG TRADITIONS
The 4.7m long K4 is powered by a Kia 1.6-litre turbo engine through a seven- speed dual-clutch transmission.
The K4 has a wheelbase of 2.7m and includes a push-button engine start. Kia says together with its active and passive safety systems the K4 can achieve a five-star rating when subjected to the Chinese new car assessment programme tests.
Kia said: "We have a tradition of exhibiting concept cars which are closely related to future volume models; the K4 sedan is expected to go on sale in China during the second half of 2014."
Soon-Nam Lee, vice-president of Kia, said: "From its earliest development the K4 concept was designed to satisfy Chinese needs and preferences."
