Kia teases next-gen Sportage

CAPE TOWN - Kia has revealed its new Sportage ahead of its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt International Motor Show on September 15.

The fourth-generation Sportage has, Kia says, "a bold, progressive design, with the vehicle’s designers creating a sense of power and agility from every angle".

At the front, the headlights are no longer integrated with the grille and are instead, sweeping back along the outer edges of the new bonnet and more pronounced wheel arches.

INSPIRED BY PROVO CONCEPT

The new SUV has a lower, wider "tiger-nose" grille, longer front overhangs and a longer wheelbase.

Inspired by the 2013 KIA Provo concept, the Sportage has redesigned tail lights with turn signals and reversing lights separated and relocated lower down the rear.

As for the interior, Kia said: "Inside, the Sportage marries simple, modern style with rich material quality for Kia’s most refined, highest-quality cabin to date."

The design of the new Sportage has been led by Kia's European design studio in Frankfurt, Germany, with input from the automaker's Namyang, Korea and Irvine, California design centres.
