HONG KONG, China - Infiniti's Q30 hatchback will have its global debut at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show in September.

The automaker, which has its HQ in Hong Kong, said: "The Q30 with Infiniti’s new design language is a category-breaking vehicle concept developed for customers seeking urban individuality."

Its dynamic drive characteristics, Infiniti says, match the brand's "typical confident and responsive performance as well as excellent ride and handling".

Crafted trim and expressive interiors, it adds, extend the striking design approach from the exterior to its luxury cabin.

The global premiere of the Q30 Active Compact will come two years after its precursor, the Q30 Concept, was introduced at the 2013 Frankfurt show. Infiniti says its new Active Compact borrows much of its design from that car.

Infiniti president Roland Krueger said: “Design is a key pillar of the Infiniti brand – and the new Q30 Active Compact perfectly embodies this approach.

“The car delivers the distinctive design, driving dynamics and individuality our customers expect. With this our first product in the compact-car segment, we continue the product offensive and provide additional options.”

The Q30 Active Compact underwent final testing and development in Europe. It will be built in Sunderland in north-east England, the fourth country on three continents to assemble Infiniti vehicles.
