Muscle car enthusiasts begin salivating - Ford has unveiled its new Shelby Mustang GT500 convertible.
The new GT500 convertible is powered by supercharged 484kW 5.8-litre V8 engine. The drop-top muscle car also features adjustable Bilstein electronic dampers and a Brembo brake system for improved performance.
According to Ford, the new suspension allows the GT500 to switch from sportscar performance to a smoother ride for everyday driving.
DAILY TRACK STAR
Kerry Baldori, Ford's Special Vehicles Team, said: "The Shelby GT500 convertible is every bit the performer that the coupe is."
"All of the significant changes we made in the program were instrumental in delivering a convertible that could really shine on the track but can still be driven on a daily basis," Baldori said.
The new model is available with an optional performance package and the US automaker says its quicker around a track than the outgoing model, with the new convertible shaving nearly 3.5 seconds off its lap time at Sebring International Raceway.
