Ford reveals just how fast its new Focus RS really is!

Cape Town - With the eagerly anticipated Mustang and Ranger stealing attention at Ford, the automaker has unveiled just how fast its new Focus RS really is...

It's blisteringly quick; the new Focus RS will sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds, according to Ford this makes the high-performance hatchback the fastest accelerating RS yet.

The new Focus RS will arrive in South Africa during the first half of 2016.

265km/h top speed

The Focus RS will reach a top speed of 265km/h powered by a specially engineered version of Ford’s new 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine, delivering a maximum power output of 257kW.

The RS will be built in Saarlouis, Germany and is one of 12 performance Ford's due through to 2020.

How does the RS' 0-100km/h sprint time compare to its rivals:

Volkswagen Golf R - 5.2 seconds

Audi RS 3 - 4.3 seconds

Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy - 6.0 seconds

The RS will reach South Africa in the first half of 2016.
