F1 inspiration for new Twingo RS

Since its launch in 2008, 12000 Renault Twingo RS models haven sold around the world. In 2012 the range was expanded with the addition of Gordini RS versions in South Africa.

Hot off the launch of the superb Megane Renault Sport Trophy 265 in Knysna, Renault's sport division teams up with Red Bull Racing to deliver a new limited edition version of the Twingo RS.

NEW STYLING

The Twingo RS Red Bull Racing RB7 features new styling and improved handling.

The front bumper now incorporates a Formula 1-style blade while rear design is accentuated by large wheel arches, spoiler and diffuser.

The new model also sports a pearlescent Black paintjob which contrasts with the yellow blade, side mirrors and lip spoiler. Other style changes over the standard RS version include a chequered-pattern roof decal and door decals in the colours of the Red Bull F1 team.

Power remains the same as the new models sports the Twingo RS 1.6 petrol engine capable of 98kW at 6750rpm and 160Nm with peak torque at 4400rpm.

The Cup chassis, lowers the vehicle’s ride-height by 4mm compared to the Sport and enhances performance by minimisingweight transfer. The dampers and springs have been stiffened by 10% to improve body roll.

Much like the Twingo RS, the interior has yellow stitching on the steering wheel, seats and dash. Gloss black has been used for the rev-counter housing and air vents. The dash incoporates a RS monitor which takes its inspiration from the telemetry systems seen in motorsport.

To highlight the model's exclusivity, a numbered “FIA 2011 World Champion” plaque has been added as well as a Renault Sport logo for the gear lever.

The Renault Twingo RS Red Bull Racing RB7 and similarly limited-edition versions of Mégane and Clio RS will be available later in 2013.
