Overall performance benefits as a result with the standing start to 100 km/h run now seen to in only 6.8 seconds for the manual sedan. Yet, despite the increase in performance, fuel consumption in the combined cycle is only 7.6 litres per 100 km.

Moving to the A6 range, three new engines are available. This includes the 3.0-litre TDI engine which has its power increased from 165 kW to 171 kW. Torque remains at 450 Nm.

This engine is also exclusively available with quattro all-wheel drive and a six-speed tiptronic gearbox in both sedan and Avant body styles. Pricing for the A6 3.0 TDI sedan is R469 000 while the Avant retails for R485 000.

The additional power and torque allows the A6 4.2 FSI to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds with top-speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle remains at 10.8 litres per 100 km.

Power and torque output mirrors that of the A6 4.2 FSI at 257 kW at 6 800 r/min with torque of 440 Nm at 3 500 r/min. quattro all-wheel drive and a six-speed tiptronic gearbox comfortably puts the power onto the road.
