Citroen minibus taxis for SA

Citroen is entering the South African minibus taxi market with a range of 15, 16 and 19-seat Relay small buses.

In 2012 a Citroen tender was accepted by the government and to date has supplied 45 diesel-engined 16 and 19-seat minibuses to government agencies, among them the police, legal aid and water affairs. Citroen’s goal is to deliver 500 minibuses in South Africa through 2014.
 
The Relay panel vans have been converted to SA government regulations for minibus taxis with a stronger floor, windows, seat belts, seats and radio. All units will have two airbags.

The 15 and 16-seat models are powered by 2.2 engines, the 19-seater a three-litre. The 15-seater has a five-speed manual while both the othes are six-speed.
 
The minibuses will soon be available with stop/start as an optional extra (R5000).

The buses are sold with a  five-year or 100 000km service plan and thee-year or 100 000km warranty. Service interval 20 000km.
