Chevrolet will launch a new performance version of its Sonic hatchback at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show. The automaker’s MyLink infotainment system will also makes its South African debut.
The Sonic RS, due to be launched in South Africa early in 2014, is powered by a 103kW 1.4 turbocharged petrol engine and rides on an improved sports suspension. The RS-badged Sonic has had several style ugrades over the vanilla hatchback, among them exterior enhancements, dark alloys and red interior detailing.
RS-BADGED SONIC
Chevrolet brand manager Tim Hendon said: “The RS badge forms the first level of performance-orientated name within the model-naming hierarchy at Chevrolet, making the Sonic RS a very special car indeed.
“It will certainly add some interesting flavour to the Sonic product portfolio in South Africa in 2014.”
