The 2012 Paris auto show (Sep 29-Oct 14) is expected to welcome more than 1.5-million visitors and visitors the Opel stand will, according to the automaker, “find an impressive display of Adams”.

BUILD YOUR OWN ADAM

Various Adam models that represent some of the trim, décor, wheel and other personalised combinations will be available to showgoers. Visitors will also be able to inspect the three trim models up close: Jam, the fashionable and colourful one, elegant and sophisticated Glam and the sporty Slam.

The Adam is also said to be class-leading in terms of the technology that includes My Media to link the owner’s smartphone (Android or Apple products) with the car’s touchscreen infotainment system.

At its European launch, the Adam will be offered with a choice of three petrol engines – a 51kW 1.2 and 64W and 74kW 1.4. All engines are available with fuel-saving start/stop technology.

The Adam will also (at a later date) be the first car in the Opel range to adopt a new small petrol engine featuring direct injection and forced induction. It will be mated to an all-new six-speed gearbox, the automaker said.

But as cute and funky as the new Opel Adam seems, GMSA still says there are no plans to bring the hatchback into the country.
