Toyota SA has already launched its 2012 Avanza MPV. Now here comes the panel van version with assertive styling and a bigger cabin and load bay than its predecessor.

According to Calvyn Hamman, Toyota’s senior vice-president of sales and marketing: “Inside and out, the Avanza van is proof that just because a vehicle works for its living doesn’t mean it has to look utilitarian. That said, it’s certainly a case of form following function – the Avanza van is that fit for purpose."

The new vinyl-clad load bay has a low sill and large aperture to make loading and unloading far easier. The load capacity is rated at 500kg and has a cargo net to secure goods.

The van carries the same specifications as the passenger version, which includes power-assisted steering, two front air bags, alarm/immobiliser, anti-lock brakes, central locking and power window lifts front and rear.
