The entry-level Vivo adds a six-speed Tiptronic gearbox to the mid-range 63kW 1.4 Trendline hatchback and sedan. The engine's torque peaks at 132Nm at 3800rpm and the car's top speed is 172km/h. VW SA claims a combined fuel consumption of 6.6 litres/100km.
BLUELINE
Furthermore, based on VW's BlueMotion models, the automaker is also introducing a Polo Vivo BlueLine. It's a more fuel-frugal addition to the range with a quoted combined fuel consumption of 5.4 litres/100km and CO2 emissions of only 128g/km.
It's available only as a 1.4 in four-door hatchback configuration. However, the engine has been tweaked to meet more efficient ambitions.
Power is unchanged (55kW at 5000rpm), maximum torque is down from the standard 132Nm at 3600rpm to 126Nm at 3200rpm. Further efficiency-enhancing additions include a hatchtop spoiler, lower suspension and 15-inch alloy rims inside low-resistance tyres.
All Polo Vivos will be delivered with a three-year or 120 000km warranty. Maintenance and service plans are optional.
