Audi launched its third installment to its popular A3 range in South Africa, the A3 sedan, earlier in January 2014.
In May 2014, Audi SA reports its has delivered 680 A3 Sedans to local customers. The automaker bolsters its local A3 range even further with the addition of the sporty S3 sedan.

The automaker said: “The addition of the S3 Sedan to the current range allows the brand to extend its offering in the highly competitive A-segment of the market, and will further enhance this offering with the launch of the new A3 Cabriolet later in May 2014, followed by the S3 Cabriolet later in the year.”
The 206kW/380Nm four-cylinder engine in the S3 Sedan is shared with its S3 hatch and Sportback siblings.
The engine is mated to automaker's S tronic gearbox which uses Audi’s drive select, offering drivers five modes - comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency or individual.
The two-litre TFSI features many new technologies, ranging from dual injection through the Audi valvelift system, to thermal management. It will only be available as a six-speed S tronic; reaches 100km/h in five seconds and has a governed top speed of 250km/h.
Fuel consumption is rated at a claimed seven litres/100km when paired with the S tronic with emissions of 162g/km.
GOOD LOOKS
Audi says the new has a firm and sporty road stance with an athletic sculpture featuring a low engine hood, the characteristic tornado line below the windows and sharply sloped C-pillars. Xenon plus headlights with LEDs are standard - a first in the premium compact class, which previously have only been available in luxury models, along with the LED tail lights.
The S-specific single-frame grille has an aluminium-look finish, and the insert is matt platinum grey.The newly designed bumper features aluminium-look double ribs integrated into the lateral air inlets. Pronounced edges frame the large air inlets with the high-gloss black honeycomb inserts.
The rear bumper has also been redesigned with the platinum grey diffuser housing the exhaust system’s four oval tailpipes, which sport chrome tips.
Inside, says Audi, a distinct arch encircles the instrument panel which appears to float on the centre console. Large, round air vents, the air con control panel and the decorative inlays in matt brushed aluminium or a black 3D-look provide accents. Boot space is 390 litres.
