Audi’s first S-badged Q5 will arrive in South Africa later in February 2014. We have details, prices and gallery images on the new 230kW/650Nm SQ5 TDI!
Audi’s local line-up will be bolstered with the addition of two models to be launched later in February 2014 – the S3 Sportback and SQ5 TDI!
The new SUV will be the first S model in the Q-model range as well as the first one powered by a twin-turbo diesel.

The 3.0 V6 TDI is capable of 230kW/650Nm and mated to eight-speed tiptronic, enabling the SUV to rocket from 0-100 to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds on to a top speed of 250 km/h (limited). Fuel consumption is rated at a claimed 6.8 litres/100km with emissions of 179 g/km.
The SQ5 is equipped with quattro all-wheel drive stop/start . The sport suspension lowers the vehicle body by 30mm and it’s equipped with 20” five-spoke alloys and black brake callipers.
DESIGN
The S-badged Q5 has restyled front and rear bumpers, grey single-frame grille, badging and spoiler.
According to Audi: “The SQ5 TDI has no direct competitors and is a unique offering in the premium B SUV –segment.”
The interior benifits from power-adjustable leather sport seats with brushed aluminium inlays. The instrument dials are grey and include a 3D-design S badge. The needles are white and the pedals and shift paddles have an aluminium finish.
Additional highlights include S gear lever knob, S badging on the door sills and unique steering wheel. Luggage capacity in the SQ5 is rated at 1560 litres and its towing capacity rated at 2.4 metric tons.
The Audi S Q5 will be available with the following standard specification:
• 20” S-design alloys
• MMI 3G Navigation Plus
• Audi connect on-line services (including Google Earth navigation and Wifi hotspot)
• S-design flat-bottom steering wheel with enlarged gearshift paddles
• Black headliner
• Exhaust sound actuator
• S-design interior trim
• S-embossed front sport seats in alcantara/ leather
• Twin exhaust tailpipes (two on each side)
