Audi launches better-priced A6s

accreditation
From mid January the A6 sedan range will offer a more affordable, entry-level version as well as an additional V6-engined model from March.

Kicking off the range will be the revised A6 2.4, available in six-speed manual and seven-step multitronic. Priced at R340 500 and R355 000 for the manual and multitronic respectively.

But according to Audi A6 2.4 still offers a high specification level which includes dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, electrically operated windows, servotronic power steering, a CD-based-sound system and the much-lauded MMI operating system.

This model is powered by the same 2 393 cc V6 engine as before credited with 130 kW and 230 Nm of torque. The A6 2.4 V6 is available in front wheel drive only.

From March, a new A6 3.0 V6 model will be available and will slot in between the new A6 2.4 and the A6 3.2 FSI. This model is priced at R381 500.

This model is powered by the well-known 3.0-litre V6 engine used in the previous A6, although it has been extensively adapted for use in the new A6. Power output is rated at 162 kW coupled with 300 Nm of torque.

Specification levels reflect those of the entry-level A6 2.4. This model is only available in front wheel drive and with the multitronic CVT gearbox.

Like all Audi's sold in South Africa, the entire A6 range is covered by a comprehensive Audi Freeway maintenance plan for five-years or 100 000 km.

The rest of the A6 sedan range remains unchanged and includes the 3.2 V6 FSI in front-wheel drive multitronic or quattro all-wheel drive tiptronic and the 246 kW 4.2-litre V8 quattro tiptronic. The 165 kW 3.0 TDI V6 quattro tiptronic model is still available too.

The A6 range will be topped off later in the year with the introduction of the Audi S6 quattro.
