308 CC gains new engine, auto

The Peugeot 308 CC coupé-cabriolet range in South Africa has been bolstered with the addition of a six-speed automatic gearbox and a new turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

The new gearbox makes the hassle of congested roads and traffic much more bearable and comes with a kick-down feature for quick response when required.

Both the new automatic and the existing six-speed manual are mated to a new 1.6-litre turbo engine, now standard to the range.

The four-cylinder unit is Euro 5 compliant and said to be more efficient with benefits in power output, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

Power for the new engine is up from 110 kW to 115 kW at 6 000 r/min, while the peak torque figure of 240 Nm remains unchanged at 1 400 r/min. With the manual gearbox, the 308 CC goes from 0 – 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds and has a top speed of 215 km/h. By contrast, the automatic has a top speed of 212 km/h and covers the 0 – 100 km/h dash in 9.8 seconds.

Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are 7.2 l/100 km and 167 g/km for the manual and 7.7 and 179 g/km for the automatic, respectively.

Both coupé-cabriolet Pugs are covered by a three-year/100 000 km warranty and sold with a five-year/90 000 km service plan.

Prices:
308 CC Manual – R336 500
308 CC Automatic – R349 800
