The three-model range of 3 and 4-ton workhorses, which are powered by 3.5 and 3.9-litre diesel and turbo diesel engines, feature high interior specification levels in keeping with Mitsubishi's "Full Comfort" concept.
There is a choice of three different engine sizes rated at 78 kW, 85 kW and 105 kW. All three are four stroke water cooled direct injection diesel engines. The largest rated engine has a turbo-charger and intercooler.
Extensive use of components utilising zinc plating and resin greatly contribute to corrosion resistance.
Resin fenders and bumpers make restoration work easier and cheaper. The tilt cab enables easy servicing and maintenance. The fuel and oil filters are now spin-on types making them very easy to change.
Interior
An elegantly moulded headlining, combined with a softly contoured interior assures comfort. Floor mats provide soundproofing.
The interior trim, seat material, and cushion pads are all made from flame-resistant material for superior safety. The driver's seat is designed to be adjustable and wide enough to create a perfect driving environment.
We drove the truck briefly, and it impressed with its levels of comfort - there's enough headroom and legroom, as well as driver's seat width, for the biggest South African driver - as well as its driveability.
Mitusbishi says the specially reinforced frame greatly resist twisting, resulting in superb durability, and that stability on rough roads is also enhanced by a new chassis design.
The extended lower quadrant of the front windscreen improves forward visibility and the deep cut safety windows on the sides of the cab provide unobstructed side visibility for safer driving.
