HYDROGEN-POWERED B-CLASS: Hollywood
stars Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson prove the potential of Mercedes-Benz
B-Class F-Cell, which produces water as exhaust emissions, in a trip though California's
Death Valley. What’s more, the pair used the F-Cell’s emissions for drinking
FUTURE MOBILITY: For
more than two years Hollywood stars Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson have driving
a Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell, a vehicle that produces water instead of C02
DEFYING DEATH VALLEY: The
couple produced a film to show the potential the automaker’s fuel-cell drive
system offers during a trip in California's Death Valley, one of the driest
places in the world.
DRINKING WATER? In
the film, titled ‘Defying Death Valley’, the pair can be seen driving through 50
degree Celsius heat without any drinking water relying instead on the emissions
of the B-Class F-Cell. The Hollywood stars used water for drinking and cooking
during their trip.
'WE HAD NO WATER PROBLEMS': Kruger commented on the trip: "We've become absolute fans of the fuel cell. The car is so easy to
use. On a day-to-day basis our normal mobility isn't restricted at all - and we
had no water problems in Death Valley either."
Jackson said: "It takes three minutes to fill up,
drives about 400km and gives off zero emissions - simply perfect."
total of 200 have been sold in the USA and Europe since 2010, one of which has
covered 315 000km.
B-Class F-Cell is the automaker’s first fuel cell electric vehicle to be built
under series-production conditions. Electricity is generated by a chemical
reaction with hydrogen and oxygen resulting in a claimed range of 400km and
short refuelling times of less than three minutes.
