Sasol GTC: Audi ready to take 1-2 win at Round 3

South Africa - Engen Audi driver Simon Moss is looking forward to Round 3 of the Sasol GTC Africa at Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday as he bids to consolidate his position at the top of the championship standings.

Moss has really started to deliver on his unbridled talent, winning two of the four races that have comprised Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2018 season.

'Broke a spell of bad luck'

With past success to draw on at Zwartkops, the blonde-haired driver has good reason to be upbeat about his chances come Saturday.

“I think I broke the spell of bad luck at Zwartkops last year by winning both races in the season finale,” says Moss.

“I’ve always been quick around the Pretoria track, but lady luck was never on my side. I’ve worked hard for my lead in the championship and I am determined to keep the good series of results going.”

Moss’ teammate, and reigning Sasol GTC champion, Michael Stephen will be looking to close the gap on Moss and second-placed Gennaro Bonafede of the Sasol BMW GTC team.

Keeping fit and staying focussed

Lying third on the overall standings following three second place finishes in 2018, Stephen has kept himself sharp over the past few weeks by competed very successfully in the National DD2 karting championship.

“Competing in karting alongside the GTC Championship keeps me fit and focused,” says the two-time defending Sasol GTC Africa champion.

“Preparation has always been our stronghold and we want to make sure that we do our best to have the cars as trim-ready as possible for the first session on Friday”, adds Stephen, who doubles up as the team engineer.

Ever confident Engen Audi team principal, Terry Moss cannot wait to release the team’s drivers at the track this weekend.

“The time available since Killarney, considering all the holidays, has not prevented us from concentrating on vital areas of performance,” says Moss. “Zwartkops Raceway, whilst not our home track has surprisingly always been kind to us, and we will be hoping to put on a strong show.”

Friday will see three practice sessions for the Engen Audi team, with qualifying and two races on Saturday.
