Johannesburg - This year proved to be yet another great racing season for Lindenberg Racing, which celebrated the end of a competitive year on track in fine style at the season-ending Kyalami Historic Tour extravaganza on Saturday.

Paige Lindenberg and her team toasted several awards following a most successful prize giving at the Midrand circuit.

Paige earned multiple awards after powering her monster Ford Fairlane to second in her class championship, taking Victrix Ludorum, the Highest Points Scored Award for drivers under 30 years old, the Manufacturers Team Award alongside fellow Ford drivers Deon van Vuuren and Willem Vorster and… the Man of the Year award!

Paige grinne:"I am so proud to win the Man of the Year award! That’s a very special achievement for a girl, but I also could not be happier with the results of my 2017 Racing season. "Despite the hassles, we still took second in championship, Victrix Ludorum, Man of the Year, the Reidy Family Award and the Monarch Engineering Award, so we are all pretty chuffed.

"To the most incredible team in the world, thank you Lindenberg Racing a million times over for everything, all this would never be possible without you — and to my incredible family and friends, I can never thank you enough for all the love and support — I’m so ready for 2018!"

On the track on Saturday, Paige took her giant Ford to fourth in class in the Pre-71 saloon races, lapping in an impressive 2 minutes 10.5 seconds and beating her qualifying time by just under 3 seconds, while Lindenberg Racing team mates Kirsten Venter finished sixth in class and husband Djurk ran well until his Capri V8’s brakes faded.

Djurk bounced back with a fine rub amongst the Kyalami pre-66 action, hustling his Shelby Daytona Cobra to second in class and third overall in the endurance race, where he also took third on Index. “It’s been a great year on track - I enjoyed racing the Cobra, Capri and Escort and I even managed to beat my wife once in a while!” Djurk smiled, while Kirsten promised: “Yip — you were lucky in those races — next year it’s not going to be that easy!”

Lindenberg Racing now looks ahead to an even better 2018 — a momentous season for the multi-championship winning team, which celebrates forty years in competition with team principal Peter Lindenberg also back in action starting with the 2018 International Passion For Speed at Zwartkops and Killarney.

"I can’t wait to get back into a race car in anger,” Peter explained. “I’ve had a long recuperation from a difficult hip surgery, which kept me out for most of the 2017 season, but I am ready to race and the team is preparing my Mustang GT350 to bring home another overall win in the Legends of the 9 Hour to start celebrating our achievement of 40 years of racing and winning — bring it on!"
