Cheste, Spain - Jorge Lorenzo broke his own track record on Saturday (November 12) to claim pole position for the season-ending Valencia Moto Grand Prix.
Lorenzo will start from the front of the grid for Sunday's race, which is the former three-time champion's last event before leaving team Yamaha to join rival Ducati.
Improving the record
Lorenzo lowered his own mark at the track in Cheste with a flying lap of 1 minute, 29.401 seconds - 0.6 seconds faster than his own record from 2015.
It was the Spaniard's 39th career pole in the top category.

MotoGP champion Marc Marquez had the second fastest time, followed by Valentino Rossi.
Moto2 champion Johann Zarco took pole in the intermediate category, while Aron Canet won his first career pole in Moto3.
